Jim Press
left Chrysler at the end of last year, and other than taking a moment to
speak up for Akio Toyoda earlier this year, Press has stayed away from the lights. Turns out he's been on the job for
Renault-
Nissan since about March, when he was hired as a consultant on the company's sales and marketing operations.
Consulting has been a popular move for recent ex-auto execs, with
Bob Lutz and Tom Purves perhaps assisting Lotus, Fritz Henderson
landing at AlixPartners, and Rick Wagoner getting a
board seat at the Washington Post. According to a Nissan spokesman, Press has already been visiting dealers and is "providing substantial input."
