![]() ![]() Kia today revealed that its new Picanto city car, which will have its world premiere at the upcoming Geneva Salon in March, will be available with a total of four-new engines. The South Korean automaker also released the first official picture of the car's interior and added that the Picanto will go on sale across Europe this Spring. ![]() Power outputs will range from 69HP to 85HP, with maximum torque between 94 and 121 Nm, with Kia revealing that the bi-fuel 1.0-litre engine will generate 82HP and 94 Nm of torque. For the standard lineup, fuel economy will range from 4.2 to 5.9 liters per 100 km (39.9 mpg to 56 mpg US), and CO2 ratings from 95 and 105 g/km. Certain European models will also be available with Kia's ISG technologies that include a start-stop system, cutting emissions to between 90 and 100 g/km and further improving fuel economy. Pricing and equipment details for the UK and European markets will be announced closer to the launch date, but Kia said that features like LED daytime running lights, button-start with smart key, and six or seven airbags, depending on model, will be available. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Engine and Performance
A 1.248 cc four-cylinder that generates 85 hp and 121 Nm of torque at the top of the formation. Two three-cylinder, 998 cc units existing customers with a choice of petrol or Bi-fuel technologies (petrol & LPG) – Bi-fuel is available in some countries but not in the United Kingdom. The gasoline engine produces 69 hp and 95 Nm of torque. Bi-fuel drive 82 hp and 94 Nm of torque. Made in Korea, the Kappa engine family share many common features, including dual CVVT (variable valve timing), an aluminum block, crank offset, the current distribution, maintenance-free life and low friction valve “hive” springs. ![]() The standard transmission for all engines in the new Kia Picanto is a5-speed manual, while a gearbox 4 speed automatic available as an option on the 1.25-liter engine of 85 hp. MacPherson front suspension castor angle has increased from 4.1 degrees to improve straight line stability of driving, 12% softer springs and wheel travel 20 mm top stops.At lower back, the link torsion beam axle is 60% stiffer to reduce understeer, with 29% softer springs, 15 mm shorter-hitting stops and the arm behind bushes to improve driving stability and complacency. The Kia Picanto is all hard braking system, which is standard on all models equipped with electronic stability control, ABS with the support of the distribution pattern of electronic antilock braking force and an emergency brake “help systems.
