Chery unvails V8 ATECO engine!

Chery’s first 800cc engine was put into the lowest model of the
Chery QQ, the 800cc engine was good for 52bhp which was enough to punt the little mini car around town in a relatively dignified manner.
Chery have now produced a second generation model of the 800cc engine which is promising improved power and improved economy around town thanks to improved DVVT technology. Torque has been improved to 85Nm, whilst the previous generation was 78Nm.
Chery have been one of the strongest proponents of self developed engine technology and have been developing their own engines since they first set up
Chery. Their first engine plant was taken from
Ford Europe’s Dagenham plant in the UK, which made the
Ford Escort engine.
Chery dismantled and reassembled this plant in Wuhu China and put the 1.6 petrol engine into production for the Seat Toledo model they produced under the Fulwin name.
Chery later set up its own engine division, ATECO, which went on to supply
Fiat and several other manufacturers with engines.
3.0L V6 and 4.2L V8 engines will be used in the F11.
Chery has a hidden agenda for luxury cars
Chery Auto is set to produce its luxury sedan under the code name "F11" as early as 2009, according to Shanghai Securities News report.
The source who has access to high level Chery officials says Chery had started a program to develop the F11 as early as this April. The model will be sold under a different brand logo from Chery. 3.0L V6 and 4.2L V8 engines will be used in the F11. Both of these engines are developed in-house by Chery and designed by Austria's engine manufacturer AVL.

The Chinese name of the model will be called "Xuanyuan", which will compete with Toyota Lexus, Nissan Infiniti, Audi A6 as well as BMW 5-series, according to Chinese media report.
However, Qin Lihong, Chery Auto Co.'s senior sales official, said earlier that Chery would unveil its first luxury sedan in 2013.
