<div align="center"><em><stron g><small>Click above for a high-res gallery of the AC Schnitzer BMW X6 Falcon</small></strong></em><br /></div> <br />Idle hands are the devil's playthings, and apparently AC Schnitzer has a lot of time on its hands. You're only required to read the first two lines of the company's press release to realize that the crew formerly known for creating rolling automotive masterworkz have officially donned their collective bouffants, made like the Fonz and jumped the shark. Here's proof: The BMW X6 Falcon.<br /><br />Using the X5 Falcon as unfortunate inspiration, the X6 variant gets the same stretched out body work, giving the 'ute a 70mm wider track in the front and an additional 80mm in the rear. According to AC, extensive testing was done on the Nurburgring to hone the Falcon's high-speed prowess, aided by a new front lip, air intakes, repositioned fog lamps, side skirts and rear wing. Black or silver 22-inch Type VII wheels fill the massive arches and although it's not clear in the release, we suspect that some lowering springs were used to keep the ride-height in check.<br /><br />As for power, the only models to benefit from engine tweaks are the X6 3.0d and 3.5d, boosting power to 272 hp (from 235 hp) and 310 hp (from 286 hp), respectively. And naturally, AC will sell you a set of chrome tailpipes, aluminum interior trim, pedals and floor mats emblazoned with its logo.<br /><br />Hit the jump to read AC's comically overwrought press release.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ac-schnitzer-bwm-x6-falcon/">AC Schnitzer BMW X6 Falcon</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ac-schnitzer-bwm-x6-falcon/1126422/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/01_acs_falcon_x6_thumbnai l.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ac-schnitzer-bwm-x6-falcon/1126423/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/02_acs_falcon_x6_thumbnai l.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ac-schnitzer-bwm-x6-falcon/1126424/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/03_acs_falcon_x6_thumbnai l.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ac-schnitzer-bwm-x6-falcon/1126425/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/04_acs_falcon_x6_thumbnai l.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ac-schnitzer-bwm-x6-falcon/1126426/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/10/05_acs_falcon_x6_thumbnai l.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/29/idle-hands-ac-schnitzer-bmw-x6-falcon/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Idle hands: AC Schnitzer BMW X6 Falcon</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com"><img src="http://www.autoblog.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Autoblog" style="float:left;padding :0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/29/idle-hands-ac-schnitzer-bmw-x6-falcon/">Idle hands: AC Schnitzer BMW X6 Falcon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Wed, 29 Oct 2008 19:59:00 EST. That might be a good thing if anyone has really decided they need a stretched X6. Based on the X6's slower-than-expected U.S. sales, maybe the extra room is what people are waiting for, and the trifecta for this latest niche-creating could be: not quite car, not quite SUV, lots o' room. (See "<a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/14/detroit-2008-toyota-venza-crossover-to-challenges-edge-murano/">Toyota Venza</a>" for comparison.) BMW's name for it, however, is <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/top-10-gibberish-car-names-1/1123903/">just as kooky as Venza</a>: Progressive Activity Sedan. Which means things could be getting a little Pretentiously Asinine over Munich way...<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://globalmotors.net/spy-shots-2010-bmw-pas-crossover-v5/">Global Motors</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com"><img src="http://www.autoblog.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Autoblog" style="float:left;padding :0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/30/spy-shots-bmw-v5/">Spy Shots: BMW V5</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Thu, 30 Oct 2008 08:01:00 EST. <div align="center"><strong><e m><small>Click above for high-res gallery courtesy our friends at Speed and Motion</small></em></strong><br /></div> <br />Long known amongst car people around southern California for its fine dining, upscale boutiques and most importantly its twice-monthly collector car breakfast cruises, the <a href="http://www.enderleconcours.com/">Enderle Center</a> in Tustin, California decided to do something a little different to celebrate its 30th Anniversary: host a Classic European Concours. For this inaugural event they even flew in Pininfarina designer <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125442/">Maurizio Corbi</a> who answered questions and sketched dream cars for the crowd. When someone groaned after hearing Corbi was partly responsible for the new <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/31/first-drive-ferrari-california-in-sicily/">Ferrari California</a>'s form, he quickly pointed out he did the front, which brought relieved laughter. Local collector Dick Marconi brought several cars from his nearby <a href="http://www.marconimuseum.org/">Marconi Automotive Museum</a>, which supports the Marconi Foundation for Kids. Several of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125443/">Dick's artworks</a> were also displayed in the center's Chemers Gallery, but the cars were really all the art we needed to see.<br /><br />Classics from the '30s, '40s, '50s, and '60s, along with sportscars from the '70s, '80s, and '90s were arranged by country of origin and parked through the central parking lot alongside a pedestrian-friendly red carpet. <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125441/">Ferraris</a> were featured and there was an incredible assortment on hand, everything from <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125463/">Cher's Daytona Spyder</a> to an extremely rare <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125466/">195S</a>, one of two in existence. The <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125445/">F50</a> wasn't too bad either. Maserati, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125454/">Alfa Romeo</a>, Rolls-Royce, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125446/">Bentley</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125439/">Jaguar</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125467/">Porsche</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125460/">BMW</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125451/">Mercedes-Benz</a> and even <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/inaugural-enderle-concours/1125450/">Pegaso</a> were also well-represented. It was a great first effort and a fun show, small and manageable with some breathtaking classics, all with great stories behind them.<br /><br />When our camera started acting up we spotted our pals from <a href="http://www.speedandmotion.com/pictures/enderleconcours08/index.html">Speed and Motion</a>, who graciously agreed to let us use their images for our gallery. BMW introduces LO Rider motorcycle concept
<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/conceptcars/" rel="tag">Concept Cars</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/bmw/" rel="tag">BMW</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/motorcycles/" rel="tag">Motorcycles</a></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-lo-rider-concept/1136268/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/bmw-lo-rider.jpg" alt="" /></a><br />
<div align="center"><em><stron g><small>Click above for more shots of the BMW LO Rider concept</small></strong></em><br /></div> <br />BMW has been out of the cruiser market since it stopped building its R 1200 C models a few years back. The market shift towards ever-larger engines was what prompted the German marque's withdraw, as the firm's latest Boxer engines just can't be bored or stroked nearly enough to compete with some of the V-Twin behemoths that currently fill the market. Lately, though, there has been a new segment emerging, and it could be described as custom standards. Sure, placing a torque-rich motor into a standard-style frame isn't anything new, but bikes like the Moto Guzzi Griso, Suzuki B-King and the latest <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/06/04/officially-official-2009-star-motorcycles-vmax-with-live-pict/">Yamaha VMax</a> prove that there is a revival in that particular niche. BMW could definitely fit into that category with its latest concept bike.<br /><br />Introduced at the EICMA Show in Milan, the BMW LO Rider concept uses a variation of the standard Boxer theme, stripped down to its bare essentials. Up front, the traditional Bavarian Telelever fork has been replaced with a beefy USD telescopic fork holding twin wavy disc brakes. Two projector-style headlamps add some urban flair to the front of the bike while a single saddle seat marks the bike's minimalist design. Twin high-mount tailpipes, which do an excellent job of exposing the single-sided swingarm, complete the look. Rumors indicate that BMW is seriously testing public reaction to the new concept and could put the bike into production in very short order if demand is there. We say go for it.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-lo-rider-concept/">BMW LO Rider concept</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-lo-rider-concept/1136268/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/bmw-lo-rider_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-lo-rider-concept/1136267/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/bmw-lo-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-lo-rider-concept/1136269/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/11/bmw-lo-rider-lrg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/eicma-2008-bmw-lo-rider.htm">Bikes in the Fast Lane</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/bmw-introduces-lo-rider-motorcycle-concept/">BMW introduces LO Rider motorcycle concept</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 04 Nov 2008 12:22:00 EST. BMW decides not to build Concept CS

<div align="center"><em><stron g><small>Click above to view high-res gallery of the BMC CS concept</small></strong></em><br /></div> <br />The current worldwide economic climate has claimed yet another automotive casualty: the BMW <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/05/21/production-take-on-bmw-cs-concept-likely/">Concept CS</a>. The German automaker cites a distinct lack of profitability as the main reason the CS project has been canceled. Last quarter, the boys and girls from Bavaria returned a profit of just 1.3% from its global automotive operations, and a low-volume halo sedan like the CS would only serve to drive that figure further downward. So, expect the brand-new 7 Series to remain at the top of BMW's model lineup for now.<br /><br />If not the Concept CS, what current projects are keeping BMW engineers hard at work? Efficiency, fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. As part of the company's new Strategy Number ONE (outlined after the jump), the Munich-based automaker is pushing forward its EfficientDynamics project, which should add technologies such as stop/start and hybrid drivetrains to its mainstream models. After the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/18/la-preview-204-hp-lithium-battery-powered-mini-e-revealed/">all-electric MINI E</a> makes its debut at the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/la-auto-show/">LA Auto Show</a>, expect BMW to work in earnest on its next city car project that could be a revival of the iconic <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/Isetta/">Isetta brand</a>.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><s trong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-cs/">BMW Concept CS</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-cs/218200/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/6301162.w700_thumbnail.jp g" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-cs/218198/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/6301168.w700_thumbnail.jp g" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-cs/218204/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/6301177.w600_thumbnail.jp g" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-cs/218205/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/6301189.w600_thumbnail.jp g" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/bmw-concept-cs/218201/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2007/04/6301201.w600_thumbnail.jp g" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Sources: <a href="http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081104/ANE02/811049989/1193/emaildailyANE02">Automoti ve News</a> - sub. req'd, BMW]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/bmw-decides-not-to-build-concept-cs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>BMW decides not to build Concept CS</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/04/bmw-decides-not-to-build-concept-cs/">BMW decides not to build Concept CS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Tue, 04 Nov 2008 13:20:00 EST. The Quandt family, which owns controlling interest in BMW, was outed in a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/25/documentary-implicates-bmws-controlling-shareholders-in-war-cri/">recent documentary outlining the family's wartime activities</a> that included close ties with Adolf Hitler and the use of slave labor during the Holocaust to make batteries and munitions for the Nazis.</p>
<p>According to the reports, Klatten, now married with three children, met a man in a bar with whom she entered into an affair. With the aid of an accomplice, the man secretly filmed their encounters and tried to extort some $51 million from Klatten to keep the matter quiet. The accused blackmailer, Helg Sgarbi, has reportedly done the same with other wealthy German women, but in this instance has claimed motives stemming from his Jewish grandfather's subjugation in the Quandt's factories during the Holocaust. Klatten approached state prosecutors when the ransom demands grew, and Sgarbi is now being held in police custody.</p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=135288">Inside Line</a>]</p><p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/07/bmw-heiress-blackmailed-by-survivors-grandson/">BMW heiress blackmailed by survivor's grandson</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 08:29:00 EST. F1 budgets off the chart, $4.3 million per point

Not surprisingly, it ain't cheap. Each of the successful teams spend hundreds of millions of dollars on their programs, but success is not necessarily tied in to how much dough was spent. For instance, Ferrari, winners of this year's constructor's championship with 172 total points, spent about $2.4 million per point in 2008. McLaren and BMW, numbers two and three respectively, spent a bit more than that figure, but still under a cool $3 mil. Honda and Toyota, though, had budgets nearly as large as the top-tier manufacturers yet scored significantly fewer points. In fact, Honda's meager 14 points cost the automaker over 28 million buckaroos a piece, making theirs the most expensive points of all. On average, teams spent about $4.3 million per point. No wonder the sport is looking to <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/17/fia-wants-standard-engine-for-f1-in-2010/">cut its budget</a> as soon as possible. <em>Thanks for the tip, Keith</em>!<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2008/11/09/4378133-the-price-of-a-point-in-2008/">F1 Fanatic</a>]<p style="padding:5px;backgr ound:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/10/f1-budgets-off-the-chart-4-3-million-per-point/">F1 budgets off the chart, $4.3 million per point</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblo g</a> on Mon, 10 Nov 2008 17:33:00 EST.
