I was pleased to read this post. I have been using linux since 1999 and have opted out of windows since 2004.
There are several alternatives to window linux is the most dominant now.
IF you need any help using linux or any free software I would be glad to help.
By the way there are many alternatives to property software that you can install on linux or window. If you need help with microsoft equivalent I would be also glad to help.

Microsoft office = Openoffice.org
windows media player = vlc
Internet explorer = firefox, opera
